What are the Benefits of Indoor Cycling?

According to the U.S. Department of Health ".....regular physical activity substantially reduces the risk of coronary disease, stroke, colon cancer, diabetes and high blood pressure.....and helps to control weight, contributes to healthy bones, muscles and joints... reduces symptoms of anxiety and depression..." Need we go on? Cycling is also "low-impact" without the joint stress that you get from "ground-pounding" sports and activities. All good reasons to strap-in/clip-on and RYDE!

What a Ryde these past few years have been! When Brigid and I started RydeOn! in 2011 we had no idea just how successful our business was going to be; and while we had high hopes, we never dreamed that our cycling studio was going to become the center of such a large and inspiring extended family.

Now that the business is established, I'm going to take a step back and concentrate on the needs of my immediate family, including my daughters Madelyn and Ava. I’m looking forward to resuming my job as a full-time wife and mom.

However, I'm not going away! I will continue to teach at RydeOn! every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 9:15 in the morning as well as select weekend classes. If you miss me, just click here and you can join me for some great workouts!

In addition, I have this little 300-mile bike ride coming up for Make-A-Wish this July, and I'm planning on a few half marathons throughout the summer and into the fall: the Dexter A2, the new All Women's Detroit on Belle Isle, and the Detroit Marathon this October. My family has two weddings scheduled this summer, Madelyn plans to be on a swim team and will be going away to music camp, and Ava has signed up for gymnastics classes. It's going to be an action-packed summer!

I'll also be taking over the social media efforts for Epic Race, a group that puts on seven different runs and triathlons during the summer including a Tri Goddess Series, a kids' tri, and the Women's half marathon on Belle Isle. Oh – and did I mention that Madelyn and Ava will be following in their mom's footsteps and participating in the kids' triathlon? I'm so proud!

So really, this is far from goodbye. Instead, I'm saying “Hello” to a new chapter in my own training for life journey – and I look forward to our continued work and growth together. I also look forward to seeing everyone who can make it to my classes and to continuing to be a part of this fantastic community we're creating together.
